Since I’m located 5 minutes south of the Fort Lauderdale airport, the shootings today were particularly disturbing.

The news about the shooter, Esteban Santiago, has been coming out slowly but surely. What I’ve learned so far is that he was an army veteran and returned from Iraq 5 years ago. He was treated several times for mental problems after returning to the US. He even turned himself into the FBI at one time, claiming that he was being forced to fight for ISIS. 

What a tragedy for all concerned that once again, someone with mental problems owned a gun and had a permit to carry it.
