Russians Meet Moose And Squirrel; The Latest Trump Scandal; July 15, 2016

This letter from Hermitage Capital Management  was found on Chuck Grassley’s website. It’s a complaint to the FARA (Foreign Agents Registration Act) registration unit of the Department of Justice. The complaint was sent almost exactly one year ago to bring attention to lobbying violations.

Among those mentioned as being involved in the alleged illegal lobbying are the Russian lawyer, Natalia Veselnitskaya and former Soviet agent, Rinat Akhmetshin, two of the people who met with Donald Trump Jr., Kushner and Manafort.

It’s very possible that Natalia and Rinat mis-stated the purpose of the meeting since they do get paid to lobby for Russia. But Rinat’s history is interesting:

In her recent interviews, Natalia complained about problems she’s had getting into the United States to represent her legal clients. With a valid complaint against her filed with the Department of Justice, that’s certainly understandable.

Her claim that she isn’t connected with the Russian government is probably not true.

And Natlia’s claims of lobbying on behalf of “Foreign Adoption Issues” is a bit disingenuous since making the adoptions possible would require lifting some of the sanctions against Russia.

Of all the issues needing to be dealt with in America it’s surprising to see how much attention the sanctions against Russia have been getting from the Trump administration.
