Manafort Sent To Jail To Await Trial #TrumpGate

A judge revoked Paul Manafort’s bail today.

Robert Mueller recently revealed Manafort engaged in witness tampering while under house arrest and that he did this after being specifically told not to contact any witnesses in his case.

Judge Amy Berman Jackson determined Manafort had abused the conditions of his bail and could no longer be trusted, so she revoked his bail and ordered him to be jailed until his trial begins.

“This is not middle school, I can’t take away his cellphone. If I tell him not to call 56 witnesses, will he call the 57th?”
–Judge Amy Berman Jackson
By contacting government witnesses and trying to instruct them on what to say, Manafort incurred two additional felony charges on top of the multitude of charges he already has. The judge was not happy with Manafort’s behavior.

“This hearing is not about politics. It is not about the conduct of the office of special counsel. It is about the defendant’s conduct. I’m concerned you seem to treat these proceedings as another marketing exercise”–Judge Amy Berman Jackson

Manfort was led out of the court room in handcuffs. It’s not yet known which jail he’ll be incarcerated in, but his first trial will be held in Virginia and commences in July.
