Amazing Grace

RL Grace Qin aka Ruolin Qin is the daughter of Hui Karl Qin, by his first wife, Lin Jing. Grace is currently living in Chicago, where I believe she went to college. In 2020, she changed her name to RL Grace Qin.

Hui Qin and Lin Jing divorced sometime after Grace was born. Lin Jing died of congenital heart failure in 1996 at the age of 29.

Lin Jing is reported to have been the niece of Lin Jianmei, the former First Lady of the People‘s Republic Of China. She was the second wife of Li Xiannian, the 3rd president of the People‘s Republic Of China.

This means that Hui‘s ex-wife was the first cousin of Li Xiaolin who served as chairperson of the Chinese People‘s Association For Friendship With Foreign Countries and her husband Liu Yazhou, a general in the People‘s Liberation Army Air Force.

According to an interview Karl did with Chinese media, Grace was sent to America at the age of 3 to be educated. If true, Grace may have lived with a relative named Jian Qin until the age of 11, then was a boarding student at Knox School of Long Island where she graduated in 2012. Basic tuition for room and board at Knox is currently $60,000 a year.

Jian could be a sister or cousin of Karl. She‘s married to Jifa Qu and they have a son named Ante Qu. Data aggregators have their names associated with the mansion in Woodbury and another mansion in Glen Head where Karl had a business, Stellar Multimedia Group Inc, registered. The property was owned for a month by a company called St Tome LLC, which of course is registered to the Woodbury mansion. St Tome purchased it from Hastings Ventures LTD, which is a shareholder in Richard Faith Ltd, a Qin company and subsidiary of Stellar Megamedia. Hastings Ventures is registered in the Bahamas and is most likely the company mentioned in the court document and in Bahama Links on ICIJ

This is an 8 bedroom mansion, built in 1998. It’s possible Qin was the first owner. The house was most recently s old in 2020, but Qin wasn’t a party to that sale. He was either an early owner or a renter.

In 2014, just before she turned 20, Grace purchased a condo on Park Avenue for $4.8 million. At the same time she gave power of attorney to the condo board, so this was an investment and income generating purchase. That year, Jian Qin and Jifa Qu purchased a home in New Jersey
