The Alliance Defending Freedom (formerly the Alliance Defense Fund) is the chief villain in the case being determined by the Supreme Court to allow same sex marriage. The ADF claims to be a “servant ministry building an alliance to keep the door open for the spread of the Gospel by transforming the legal system and advocating for religious liberty, the sanctity of life, and marriage and family.
What this translates to is the ADF is a contradictory, far to the Right, homophobic, misogynistic group that ignores the “separation of church and state” part of the 1st amendment by attempting to make their religious beliefs become law.

All of these are fabricated threats they use to milk Christians for donations to keep its staff paid. Their battles with the ACLU are ridiculously counterintuitive.

The ACLU was established in 1920 to ensure that civil rights apply to everyone. Included in those civil rights is religious freedom. The ACLU is a watchdog to make sure government stays out of religions and, just as importantly, that religions keep out of government. Take a look at the effect of Sharia law to understand the consequences of government sponsored religion and laws based on religious beliefs.
So separation of church and state works both ways. Yes, it means no prayers or Christmas parties in school but it also means the government can’t ban a religion. And it means that religious beliefs can’t serve as the basis for laws to prevent a woman from making personal reproductive choices or preventing people of the same sex from getting married.
